The course applies to individuals working in high-intensity support roles who need basic first aid skills and knowledge required to provide CPR, place a person in a recovery position and administer epilepsy medication (such a Midazolam) for a person requiring emergency post-seizure medication (PRN). This course will provide the skills and knowledge required in medication specific emergency management procedures and provide training to the individual who works with people who have seizures.
The HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation course is delivered in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and applies to all workers or members of the community who may be required to provide CPR in the event of an emergency.
The following units will be included in your certificate:
Participants must have the physical capacity to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.
Pre-course study: Students may be required to undertake online pre-course work prior to attending the face to face session depending on the course delivery mode.
Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic device with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

- Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of an AED)

Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions. The student must successfully complete all assessment questions.
