This course will provide students with the skills and knowledge required to undertake many facets of applying occupational health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace.  Students will also gain the necessary knowledge and skills to carry out inspection testing on handheld appliances connected to plug in cords, and will be able to utilise test results to establish the safety status, applying appropriate tagging, documenting testing activities and handling unplanned events in a safe manner.  As a safety requirement, testing and tagging equipment should be conducted on a regular basis.

Units Delivered

The following units will be included in your certificate:

UEECD0007 - Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace
UEERL0003 - Conduct in-service safety testing of electrical cord connected equipment and cord assemblies

Course Delivery

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Course Durations

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

Refresher Face to Face contact time of at least 8 Hours
Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 16 Hours

An individual undertaking this course with Allens Training Pty Ltd will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

  • Physical capability to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills
  • Reading, writing and numeracy skills (level 3)

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

This certificate does not require renewal

Please note that enrolment to this course is made with Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909. Please refer to the student handbook located on the RTO website ( for all details relating to rights and responsibilities including complaints and appeals.

Performance tasks - The assessor must observe the following performance tasks:

  • Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace on two occasions, including:  
  • Conduct a risk assessment
  • Preparing the workplace
  • Selecting an appropriate ladder and apply safe work practices
  • Demonstrate safe work methods for an emergency

Followed legally compliant workplace procedures to:

  • Conduct in-service safety testing for two (2) different electrical cords
  • Conduct in-service safety testing for four (4) items of cord connected equipment

On both occasions:

  • Prepare for conducting safety tests
  • Conduct the test
  • Tag according to test results
  • Complete the required documentation (test tags and log entry)

Documentation – The student must compete all documentation according to the required standard:

  • Risk Assessment
  • Incident Report Form
  • Log form
  • Test and tag service forms

Theory assessment - A written exam consisting of multiple choice and short answer questions to be completed at the end of the training session. Students are able to refer to their Learners resource material.
