In every workplace, workers are exposed to day to day activities which involve hazardous chemicals. Understanding how to undertake these tasks safely is imperative. Without proper training, employees can make mistakes and even suffer serious injury. This is especially true if an employee is around hazardous substances

This training in this course allows you to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence required to undertake many facets of preparing and applying chemicals. Then prepare for and apply controls to complete these tasks using proper techniques which support safe work practice.

AHCCHM307 - Prepare and apply chemicals to control pest, weeds and diseases

Course Delivery

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Course Durations

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

Refresher Face to Face contact time of at least 7 Hours
Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 7 Hours

Participants must have the physical capacity to use/handle chemicals. Skills to be able to read instructions and procedures, perform mathematical calculations to determine chemical weights, volumes and quantities to use the correct amount of chemicals within the job.

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

This certificate does not require renewal

Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include: 


Performance tasks:

  • Identify the need for chemical use
  • Prepare an application plan
  • Identify hazards and manage risks
  • Calibrate application equipment
  • Prepare, mix and load chemicals
  • Apply and clean up after chemical use


Theory assessment A written exam consisting of multiple choice and short answer questions to be completed at the end of the training session.
